My primary HF transceiver
(1.8MHz - 70MHz)
ACOM 1000
The ACOM 1000 is a complete and self-contained linear amplifier that covers all amateur bands from 1.8 through 54 MHz and provides over 1000 W output power with less than 60 W exciter drive. The TRI (True Resistance Indicator) is a powerful tuning aid which, together with the automatically controlled input attenuator, helps the operator to quickly and precisely match antennas (5-10 seconds typically).
No antenna tuner required for antenna SWR up to 3:1 (and higher on some bands). The amplifier will perform the functions of an antenna tuner, thus enabling operators to change antennas faster and use them over a wider frequency range (saving tuning time).

ICOM IC-9700
The Icom IC-9700 is the first VHF/UHF/1200 MHz transceiver which introduces the RF direct sampling system for the 144 and 430 MHz bands, a real-time spectrum scope and waterfall function. The radio including a built-in 1200 MHz band, 4.3 inch TFT colour touchscreen display, full duplex with Dualwatch on separate bands, Satellite mode, D-STAR DV (Digital Voice) /DD (Digital Data) modes and Terminal/Access point modes. Also, a newly designed power amplifier and cooling system provide stable and high-efficiency operation, even when continuously transmitting for a long time.
Without installing any option units the IC-9700 includes D-STAR (a digital voice and data protocol specification for amateur radio) DV and DD modes. In addition, Satellite mode is built-in! There are three antenna connectors for 144, 430, and 1200 MHz.
Here's a few of the features of the new IC-9700
- All mode, tri-band transceiver covering 144 MHz, 430 MHz as well as 1.2GHz
- Supports CW/AM/SSB/FM/RTTY and D-STAR Digital Voice and Digital Data modes
- 144MHz and 430MHz band is direct sampling. The 1.2GHz uses down conversions as well
- Full duplex operation/ Dual Watch (no VHF/VHF or UHF/UHF capability)
- PA will provide a powerful 100 W (144 MHz), 75 W (430 MHz) and 10 W (1200 MHz) output
- 4.3" touchscreen colour TFT LCD
- Smooth satellite operation with normal/reverse tracking and 99 satellite channels
- D-STAR provides clear digital audio
- Voice recording/playback function (SD memory card)
- Audio scope
- CW full break-in
My primary VHF and UHF transceiver and primary D-Star unit
(144MHz - 146MHz, 432MHZ - 440MHz, 1240MHz - 1325MHz)
Wavenode WN-2
The Wavenode WN-2 power meter measures and displays output power and SWR of up to four radios/antennas at the same time. Sensors are available for 1.6 to 1300 MHz and up to max. 8KW. The measured data is displayed on the main Wavenode WN-2 unit and can be displayed on a computer connected via USB using the software for Windows. The Wavenode WN-2 key functions are:
- Monitor 4 sensors simultaneously for peak, Average power and coax SWR.
- Direct USB full speed interface.
- Backlit LCD display for stand-alone operation- PC is optional.
- Oscilloscope and Spectrum Analysis of the RF Modulation- Observe IM and “Splatter” frequency components in in real-time.
- Wide range of sensors cover 100 milliwatt to 8KW, 1.6 Mhz to 1.3 Ghz.
- 16-bit RISC processor, 12 bit A/D converter and rugged construction.

YAESU FT891
The FT-891 offers 100 watts of HF/50MHz output power with efficient dual internal fans. Coupled with Yaesu's legendary receiver design, triple conversion with a 1st IF frequency of 69.450MHz for outstanding performance.
Equipped with a 3KHz roofing filter as standards the FT-891 real DSP provides effective and optimal QRM rejection.
My primary mobile HF transceiver
(1.8MHz - 30MHz)
YAESU FT817ND
The FT-817ND was the world’s first HF/VHF/UHF self-contained battery-powered Multi-mode Portable Transceiver. With a 1400 mAh NiMH rechargeable battery pack the FT-817ND is a favourite with those taking to the hills or working portable.
Despite its incredibly small size (5.3" x 1.5" x 6.5"), the FT-817 delivers big performance! Its next-generation PA puts out five watts on all HF bands, plus the 50 MHz, 144 MHz, and 430 MHz bands, on all popular operating modes: USB/LSB/CW/AM/FM/Packet/PSK-31/RTTY.
The FT-817ND has extended frequency coverage, which includes reception on 100 kHz - 56 MHz, 76 - 108 MHz (W-FM only), 108 - 154 MHz, and 420 - 470 MHz.
